Delicious surprise find in Newberry, SC!
I got the pulled pork plate with two sides- I loved the fried okra (I asked for it to be crispy- and it was!) I also enjoyed the collard greens.
The service was friendly and helpful as well.

Fresh food, plentiful portions, and cozy atmosphere. Weird ordering process...walk in expecting I be seated. Instead we were directed to a menu board to pre order our food. Felt a little strange being as we were new and didn't have prior knowledge of the food. It was a self serve drink dispenser, felt obligated I tip while ordering food due to not being able to have a chance to tip again.

Excellent Barbecue in historic downtown Newberry.
The owners of this restaurant brought their popular food truck barbecue to a nice location. It's "Steelhorse" so there is Motorcycle decor including a vintage Indian dirtbike above the bar. But the star of the show is the food. Moist barbecue is served unsauced (you can add Hot Sauce or Awesome Sauce). The baked beans are sweet and tangy. I added some Awesome Sauce to the Hash and Rice to give it a bit more zing. The prices are VERY REASONABLE. Only $10 for a pile of pulled pork with 2 sides. It is well worth the short drive off the interstate. -

We were really disappointed. We were traveling and went out of our way to try this restaurant. We went in at lunchtime. The setting is really great with porch tables and mixed chairs. I just wish the food had held up to the same standard. At lunch you go to the counter and the food is delivered to your table. We were not provided the full menu, as only part of it was posted. Parts are printed on 2 seperate cards. We got 1 card. My husband ordered pulled pork and I got chicken. We got our drinks and found a seat and waited and waited and waited. Finally the cashier who took our order noticed we didn't yet have our meals. She scooted back to the kitchen and came right back out to apologize and tell us our order would be right up. She brought it out and it was very hot. No bread, rolls, toast or hushpuppies provided or offered. We both got potato salad and slaw. The slaw was old, it looked sorta gray and faded but was tasety. The potato salad was good but very rich with sour cream or mayo dressing. My husband's pulled pork was soggy with water. My chicken had apparently be brined. It had a beautiful crisp skin. The meat was so salty I had to cover it with bbq sauce. There were 2 flavors of sauce. Both were red. One tasted of mustard. The other of black pepper. Service was adequate, bbq filled empty stomachs. We will not go back.

This was a great place for dinner. Quick walk from the Hampton Inn. The flavor of the brisket rub was amazing. The pulled pork was great. Don't be afraid to try the spicy barbecue sauce--it has flavor and some heat but not out to burn your taste buds--just make the food even better. Green beans have a great flavor. Onion rings are homemade and tasty.
Really recommend you stopping here. Servers were fast and friendly too!
